What a "good read." Seeing a second thriller from this author will be a pleasure ....

I love this! Excellent work!! The author makes me feel the emotions of the characters and makes me feel I'm traveling right along with them. He uses concise words and well crafted sentences throughout the story. It continuously maintained my curiosity....

Wonderful imagery! I feel as though I am in the book, watching from the outside. I enjoy the way the book jumps from scene to scene seamlessly even though they do not always go in chronological order. That is something that a lot of authors seem to have trouble with, but not this auithor. It kept me very intrigued throughout.

I just finished reading your latest novel, Up Close & Impersonal. You have a strong talent for words, as is evidenced by this beautiful sentence, "Life was no longer Aaron's young loving mistress, rather his aged, exhausted whore, reminding him daily of the final reckoning to be exacted from him." Further proof that our language lives on....

From a fellow Marine's perspective: I absolutely loved the 'free preview' of the Prologue & Chapter One, and was compelled to buy the book! It just drew me in the more I read. I look forward to reading the entire book several more times!

Okay, I am hooked and ready to read on; the first part was déjà-vu for me. WOW! The details in the book's first chapter would jolt anyone's memory who served during that era. I have myself experienced the Orient and Europe and can relate to the different countries where the characters traveled. Phillip's a warrior without a war, and realizes at a young age how over-eagerness to prove one's self can cloud the ugly truth that awaited he and his team; how terrible war and death really are.

The prologue, a flashback to the return of Sgt. Phillip Givens from Vietnam, is excellent. What makes it such a grabber is the fact that the reader is at first wondering exactly what is happening, assuming a murder is in process instead of a vet's knee-jerk reaction to an assault by war protesters. Not many people will stop reading at the end of this first paragraph....

I thought this was a well written book. Very unpredictable book which kept me reading to see what would happen next to the characters. I would highly recommend this book.

I originally bought the book as a birthday present for my father. I borrowed the book after he finished reading it and have enjoyed it immensely. The storyline was great and well written. This debut novel was thrilling, combining espionage and unexpected romance. I predict we will see more from this first time author, and not just because the ending paves the way for a sequel.
